The head of Xbox thinks Sony did a good job with the PS5’s DualSense controller and thinks some features could roll onto the Xbox Series X/S controllers.
Sony’s DualSense controller proved to amuse all of us including the head of Xbox, Phil Spencer. In a recent interview, he hinted Xbox could update the Series X/S controllers based on the PS5’s controller.
he stated, “We’re definitely thinking about different kinds of devices that can bring more games to more places. There’s probably some work we’ll do on (the) controller”.
The Xbox Series X/S Controller unveiling showed us that Xbox was playing it safe, as it shares a lot of characteristics from its predecessor in terms of design.
It would be very speculative to state which features Xbox could be “inspired” by, but a good guess would be the haptic feedback and adaptive triggers, as these are the biggest changes we saw from Sony from the PS4’s DualSense controller to its updated model.

The Xbox Series X/S controller on the other hand is a more iterative upgrade in comparison, but one that makes it compatible with Xbox’s last generation of consoles. Aside from more modern ergonomics, the controller features newer textures for grip, redesigned triggers, and a feature we can say Xbox was ‘inspired’ by PlayStation to add the handy capture button.
